JUNE 3rd ; THE FLOOD FIRE DISASTER AND SOME SURVIVORS.

June 3rd 2015 started with a nice morning, the day was bright and peaceful, people from all walks of life moved to and fro around the capital city of Ghana doing their own business until something strange happened...

Around the hours of 7;00 - 8;00 pm the clouds turn darker and it began to rain heavily making people from all walks of life found it difficult to get to their destination.

The GOIL station, near Kwame Nkrumah Interchange  in the city's downtown area, was being used as a shelter from heavy rains and flooding from , and was packed with people, cars and buses, waiting to leave to their various destinations. People start to sense the smell of  fuel mixed with the rain water not long did  the explosion occurred.

The source of the explosion is unknown though believed to have occurred in the station's fuel tanks. One survivor stated that the power had gone out before the explosion, but after the power was restored, they heard a "pop" and then the fire erupted.About hundreds of  people taking shelter at the station were killed by the fire. Due to the flooding, water had mixed in with the fuel, and when the tanks exploded, the water exacerbated the spread of the fire to nearby buildings, killing additional citizens. The ongoing rainfall and flooding have made rescue efforts difficult.

SURVIVORS AND THE LIFE THEY'VE LIVED AFTER THE DISASTER.
Practically a year now the Accra Metropolitan Assembly took to their self to see to it that the victims who survived in this tragic disaster will be well taken care of and be given some money for medication but it seems they threw dust into the eyes of some of the victims. Some of this victims who survived this incident tried to get on the media for them to broadcast their message across the country and especially to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) for still not giving them the money they were suppose to give them over the past year.
One of the radio station which made this news well broadcasted to the general public and the A.M.A was Vision 1 FM, a program called GhanaBeYeYie hosted by Mr. Nana Yaw Sarfoh.
