STORY OF AN INNOCENT MAN WHO'S BEEN IN PRISON CUSTODY FOR ALMOST 30 YRS FOR A CRIME HE DIDN'T COMMIT.

Its really appalling when you are been lied upon or accused of a crime you never committed and you take the consequences for it. Mr. Emmanuel Tetteh is suffering this same problem for almost 30 yrs now and he wants justice to be done.

Ambassador Extraordinaire of Prisons and Executive Director of Crime Check Foundation Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng has urged the Attorney General and Minister of Justice to take another look at the case of a seventy two year old man Emmanuel Tetteh who is alleged to have been implicated in a murder case he claims he knew nothing about and has since been in Prison custody since 1987. The culprit Tengey implicated another person, Grumah who unfortunately died out of disbelief just two months into his sentence.

The story came into the public domain almost a year ago after the Prisons Ambassador Extraordinaire who is also a journalist with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Gbc, interviewed Tetteh and Tengey at the Ankaful Maximum Security Prison as part of his 'Time with the Prisoner' series. Though Tengey has confessed to implicating Tetteh in the murder, Tetteh still remains in prison years after Tengey's confession. An appeal earlier made by Mr Tetteh was rejected on the grounds that he was convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction.

Meanwhile in an interview with the Prisons Ambassador Extraordinaire, Mr Tetteh said his wife and children know he is dead after he was sentenced to death during his trial. He claims that information reaching him indicates that his best friend is now married to his wife and has four children with her.

Mr. Kwarteng says a grave injustice will have been done to Mr Tetteh if he dies in prison considering the fact that his health is failing him. He has therefore charged the AG to act with dispatch on Tetteh's case to ensure that Justice is done. He says he believes there are more Tetteh's in Prison, hence the need for members of the Justice Delivery chain , especially the Police, to ensure that thorough investigations are done in sensitive cases to ensure that the rights of suspects are not infringed upon.

Mr Kwarteng made the appeal when he donated some toiletries to inmates of the Ankaful Maximum Security Prison. He further presented an unspecified amount of money to the authorities for the upkeep of Mr. Tetteh.
